Dancing With The King

True Women’s Liberation
Women in our culture are being sold a bill of goods. There are voices in our society that say to them, “you can be just as good as a man”.  This is a step down, because you already are equal with men, and maybe then some.  Some would say that Christianity denigrates and makes women second-class citizens.  This did not seem to be the case when Jesus lived on Earth.  In a culture that truly did subjugate women, they were always there for Him, in good times and bad.  At His death women were there. “When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, so that they might come and anoint Him (Mark 16:1 NASB). Why?  They knew Jesus as one who totally accepted them, always speaking worth and value into their lives.  He did not suppress women he liberated them.
“I Am King, I will lead”
There is an old film called Anna and the King where the heroin, Anna, serves the King of Siam by teaching his children.   In one scene there was a banquet that was given by the King.  It was a very proper setting with many of the guests being cultured English people.  The King suggested that they finish the meal by dancing a waltz.  He arose from the table and put his hand out to Anna. She is taken by surprise and does not know quite what to do.  The English guests looked shocked and the Siamese were horrified
Reluctantly, she stood to her feet.  How could she refuse the King? As they walked down the steps to the dance area she looked at him apprehensively and said, "It’s been a long time since I have done this, I hope we don't end up in a heap.  He replies, "I am King, I will lead." They started to dance and the atmosphere in the hall began to change.  Every eye in the room moved with each step as they glided gracefully across the floor. They almost seemed inseparable.  Her eyes never left his face. She seemed to become oblivious to everything but him.  Beaming, his face expressed pleasure in his choice for the dance.  Everyone in the banquet room soon realized that this was no mere dance.  A servant girl had been deemed worthy to be embraced by the King.  His acceptance and pleasure in her had elevated her status.  They watched as a self-conscious young girl, who had allowed her King to lead, was transformed before their eyes into a secure and confident young women.  From that dance forward, Anna would never be the same.
Dancing With “The Star”
I think you know where I am going with this one.  There is a king so much greater than the King of Siam (King Jesus).  This King has always had his hand out to us with a look of approval on His face.  He gazes upon you like a groom as he watches his bride to-be approach him on their wedding day. So, my dear sisters in Christ take hold of His hand and let Him lead. Always be aware of His pleasure in you as His choice.   Keep your eyes trained on His and never allow anything to distract you from His presence.  Follow His footsteps and watch Him elevate you to a status that no man by himself can obtain, and the world cannot emulate, a bride of Christ.  So, dance on with the King.  He will never let His bride end up in a heap.
